June 4, 2025 — SportsLine’s Projection Model, which simulates each MLB game 10,000 times, has identified its top three pitcher strikeout props for Wednesday’s 15-game schedule, placing Kansas City Royals rookie Noah Cameron at the top of the list.
In Wednesday night’s matchup at Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees continue their series against the Cleveland Guardians. After a 3-2 win in Tuesday’s opener, New York improved to 37-22, leading the AL East by 6.5 games. Clarke Schmidt (2-2, 3.95 ERA) will start for the Yankees against Luis L. Ortiz (2-6, 4.40 ERA) for the Guardians.
Sportsbooks have both pitchers’ strikeout lines set at 4.5. According to the model, Schmidt’s Over 4.5 is rated as a 3-star play, while Ortiz’s Over 4.5 carries a stronger 4-star rating.
While Schmidt and Ortiz made the list, the model found stronger value elsewhere, with three standout picks:
Kansas City rookie left-hander Noah Cameron (2-1, 1.05 ERA) leads the list. In his first four MLB starts, Cameron has delivered four straight quality outings. Over his last three starts, he’s posted 13 strikeouts against just three walks, including an eight-strikeout performance versus Minnesota.
The model projects him at 5.0 strikeouts, giving this pick its highest 5-star rating of the day.
Texas Rangers right-hander Kumar Rocker (1-3, 8.10 ERA) returns from the IL for his first start since April. In his last MLB outing before the injury, Rocker struck out eight with no walks in a win over the Angels. He followed that with a dominant rehab start, throwing 53 pitches (35 strikes) with five strikeouts in limited action. The model projects 4.6 Ks, making this a strong 4.5-star play.
Pittsburgh Pirates rookie Mike Burrows (0-1, 8.64 ERA) has just five strikeouts in 8.1 big-league innings but brings a strong minor league resume with 332 strikeouts in 291.1 innings. He faces an Astros team that struck out 19 times in its last two games. The model sees him finishing with 4.6 strikeouts, giving this bet a 4.5-star rating.
With all eyes on Cameron, Wednesday’s slate presents high-upside strikeout value for bettors and fantasy owners alike.
