Ex-NFL Star Antonio Brown, and seven-time Pro Bowl selection, is currently wanted in Miami-Dade County in connection with a serious criminal offense. Authorities have issued an arrest warrant linking him to a shooting that occurred during a confrontation outside an amateur boxing event in Miami. The Washington Post reviewed the warrant, which outlines the allegations in detail.
The 36-year-old is accused of taking a firearm from a security officer and firing two shots at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, a man he had previously fought. One of the bullets reportedly grazed the victim’s neck. Security footage allegedly shows Brown initiating the altercation and then taking the weapon before firing the shots. Investigators also found two shell casings and an empty holster at the scene. The incident has led to a second-degree attempted murder charge, which could result in up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
According to the warrant, cell phone video confirmed the presence of gunfire and depicted the victim ducking after the first shot. The victim informed detectives that he and Brown wrestled over the firearm prior to the arrival of law enforcement, after which Brown ultimately walked away. He also disclosed that he has known Brown since 2022. No legal representation for Brown was listed in the warrant, and attempts to reach him through social media have gone unanswered.
This case adds to a history of off-field legal troubles involving Brown. His record includes accusations of assault, unpaid child support, and various domestic issues. This latest charge significantly escalates the severity of his legal challenges.
Antonio Brown began his NFL career in 2010 and spent most of it with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also had short stints with the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he won a Super Bowl in 2021. Brown last played in the NFL that same year.
His career has been marked by both outstanding athletic achievements — including 928 receptions for 12,291 yards and 88 touchdowns — and repeated legal controversies. He was released by the Patriots in 2019 after one game amid sexual assault allegations, which were later settled. He joined the Buccaneers but faced a suspension for using a fake COVID-19 vaccine card.
The attempted murder charge now marks one of the most serious legal battles of Brown’s post-NFL life, casting a shadow over what was once a celebrated sports career.
