Arsenal are exploring attacking reinforcements for the upcoming season and have reportedly made their first move for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Gunners have approached the player with an initial offer, signaling interest in a potential summer transfer. Talks between Arsenal and the winger are said to be underway, although no official bid has been submitted to Chelsea as of now.
Madueke played a prominent role under Enzo Maresca during the 2024/25 campaign, helping Chelsea secure a spot in next season’s Champions League and lift the UEFA Conference League trophy. However, with Chelsea’s forward line becoming increasingly crowded following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, the 22-year-old could be considering a new challenge.
Arsenal are monitoring Madueke closely as part of a broader search to strengthen their frontline after a goal-shy season. The Gunners are also keeping tabs on other attacking talents, including Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze.
Chelsea, who signed Madueke from PSV Eindhoven for £30 million, are reportedly valuing the player at around £50 million if they are to part ways. Arsenal’s willingness to meet that valuation remains uncertain at this stage, as their interest is still considered exploratory.
Meanwhile, Chelsea could also offload striker Nicolas Jackson following a disappointing run of form and disciplinary issues, including a red card against Flamengo during the Club World Cup. With new signings like Liam Delap and Pedro pushing for minutes, Jackson’s future at Stamford Bridge is under review.
As for Madueke, he is currently with Chelsea at the Club World Cup in the United States, where he has started in two of their four matches. Chelsea’s next fixture will be against Palmeiras on Sunday morning.
In related news, former Chelsea player Charly Musonda has announced his retirement at the age of 29. Though stepping away from the pitch, he intends to stay within the football world by mentoring and developing upcoming talent.
