2025 Berlin Tennis Open: WTA Stars Battle for $1M Prize Ahead of Wimbledon

The 2025 Berlin Tennis Open marks the 98th edition of the prestigious event on grass, launching June 16 as a key warm-up ahead of Wimbledon. Known as one of the highest-quality fields in the short grass season, the tournament offers over $1 million in prize money and brings together nine of the current Top 10 players in the PIF WTA Singles Rankings.

Although there are other WTA stops in Europe after the French Open, Berlin stands out as the first major competition leading into the grass-court stretch. The singles main draw features 28 players, including six qualifiers and four wild cards, with the main draw cutoff set at world No. 18.

Big names like Ludmilla Samsonova and Ekaterina Alexandrova, despite their top-20 rankings, must go through qualifying. Former champions of this historic event include Steffi Graf (a nine-time winner), Monica Seles, Petra Kvitova, and Ons Jabeur.
