Tyler Glasnow Set for Dodgers Return Against Brewers After Shoulder Injury

Tyler Glasnow is expected to make his return to the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday in Milwaukee, according to manager Dave Roberts.

The right-hander has been sidelined since April 28 due to inflammation in his throwing shoulder, which forced him to exit early in his last start. Following three rehab outings in Triple-A—including his latest 78-pitch appearance—Glasnow showed no signs of discomfort and is ready to rejoin the starting rotation.

The Dodgers plan to give Glasnow five full days of rest before his return. His pitch count will likely be limited in the initial outing, and with the All-Star break looming, he’ll have extra time to recover before his next start. Dustin May, originally lined up to pitch Wednesday, will instead take the ball Friday to open the series in San Francisco.

With Glasnow still officially on the 60-day injured list, the team will need to make a corresponding move to reinstate him to the 40-man roster. Emmet Sheehan, who started Monday’s game against Houston, may be sent back to Triple-A to clear room on the active roster. Shohei Ohtani remains limited to short stints after his own elbow surgery, often requiring a bullpen partner like Ben Casparius to pitch behind him.

Before his injury, Glasnow posted a 4.50 ERA over five starts this season. While the numbers weren’t dominant on the surface, his strikeout rate of nearly 30% hinted at the top-tier stuff that earned him All-Star honors. The Dodgers, who currently lead the NL West despite a string of injuries, hope Glasnow’s return helps stabilize their rotation heading into the second half of the season.

Kiké Hernández has been placed on the injured list due to inflammation in his left elbow, leading the Dodgers to bring back outfielder James Outman from the minors. During Saturday’s game against Houston, both Teoscar Hernández and Tommy Edman took foul balls off their feet—Edman’s resulting in a fractured toe. Despite the setbacks, manager Dave Roberts remains optimistic that both players might be available as bench options and could even return to the starting lineup by Wednesday.

Fernández holds a 4.08 ERA over 24 appearances this season, while Wrobleski has a 4.50 ERA in eight games with the big-league squad. The Dodgers also designated Alex Alexander for assignment just days after claiming him off waivers from the Yankees.

As the Dodgers prepare for a critical stretch before the All-Star break, the return of Tyler Glasnow brings a much-needed reinforcement to a rotation that’s been stretched thin for much of the season.
