Despite a recent loss to Seattle, the Minnesota Lynx remain atop the WNBA Power Rankings. With MVP-level performances from Napheesa Collier, the Lynx eye back-to-back Commissioner’s Cup titles.
The Minnesota Lynx continue to command attention in the WNBA, holding tight to their top position in the league’s Power Rankings. While their undefeated streak came to an end last week against the Seattle Storm in a 94-84 road loss, their dominance remains intact according to ESPN, who still lists them at No. 1.
However, head coach Cheryl Reeve remains vigilant. Following the defeat, Reeve acknowledged her team’s underperformance, noting the Lynx simply didn’t play well enough to earn a win in Seattle.
Meanwhile, the WNBA spotlight briefly shifted as Caitlin Clark delivered one of her most electrifying performances yet for the Indiana Fever. In just 43 seconds late in the first quarter, she hit three straight 3-pointers—two from beyond 30 feet. Clark wrapped up that game with 32 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, and tied her career-high with seven 3-pointers as Indiana handed the New York Liberty their first loss of the season with a 102-88 victory.
Napheesa Collier remains a standout performer for Minnesota, strengthening her case for league MVP. In a commanding 101-78 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on June 13, she delivered 32 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, playing a key role in the team’s strong rebound after their first loss.
With another key game on the horizon—June 17 against the Las Vegas Aces—Minnesota will be tested once again. The Aces, defending WNBA champions, are no easy opponent. But should the Lynx come out victorious, they’ll return to the Commissioner’s Cup final with a shot at repeating their 2024 title triumph.
There’s still plenty of basketball to play, but with Collier’s leadership and Reeve’s experience, Minnesota appears poised to make a serious run not just at another Cup, but also at the ultimate WNBA championship.
